Ada Coleman's Savoy creation, and one of the first great cocktails credited to a woman — a Martini shadowed by a bracing dose of Fernet.

1. 1½ ozGin
2. 1½ ozSweet vermouth
3. 2 dashFernet-Branca

Served up

Stir with ice until well chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe and express an orange twist over the top. Garnish: Orange twist.
