Mint Julep
Bourbon and mint over a mountain of crushed ice in a frosted metal cup — the drink of the Kentucky Derby and the slow Southern afternoon.
- 2½ ozBourbon
- ½ ozSimple syrup
- MintA handful, muddled
Over crushed ice
Muddle the mint with the syrup in a julep cup. Fill with crushed ice, add bourbon, and swizzle until the cup frosts. Crown with fresh ice and a mint bouquet. Garnish: Mint bouquet.
