Mixed in wartime Cairo as a morning-after cure for officers — gin, brandy, and lime lengthened with ginger beer. Bracing enough to raise the dead, or at least the hungover.

4. 2 dashAngostura bitters

Over cubed ice

Build over ice in a tall glass, top with ginger beer, and stir once. Garnish: Mint and orange.
